Description:

P&BR #346 - Diesel Electric Switcher. Built in September 1951 by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton Corp., Eddystone, Pennsylvania. Builders #75235; Model S-12; B+B wheel arrangement; weight- 120 tons; HP- 1200; prime mover 6 cylinder 606A. Built for Patapsco & Back Rivers for use at the Bethlehem Steel Sparrows Point, MD plant. 346 was overhauled by PBR in 1966. Unit was sold to Bethlehem Mines (same #) in Charleston, WV in 1976 and later sold to Amherst Industries through a local scrap company. Where it became Amherst #100. The unit has been well cared for by Amherst Industries. Donated in 2001 and currently is stored at the Amherst facility in Port Amherst (Charleston),WV. Unit is operable.
