The Whitewater Valley Railroad operates various regular scheduled trains and special event trains throughout the year. Train and Ticket Information is available by calling our Connersville Depot at (765) 825-2054.

All listed departure times are Eastern Daylight Savings Time. Indiana does NOW observe Eastern Daylight Savings Time!

Adults over 12 years of age, Children 2-12 years of age, and under 2 are free.

All regularly scheduled trains run between May and October.

Connersville-Metamora Train

Visit Metamora, Indiana without worrying about parking!! This train departs from our Connersville depot at 12:01 pm on every Saturday and Sunday between May 1 and October 31. This trip offers a 2 hour lay over in Metamora good for shopping, eating, and site seeing. The train departs Metamora for Connersville at 3:30 pm to arrive at the Connersville Depot at 5:00 pm.

The round trip fares for this train are $20 for adult and $12 for children, one way fares are $15 for adults and $8 for children. Caboose tickets are available for $22 adult and $14 child.

This train will make its last run of the year on November 1st.

Please note that the Metamora Excursions will not operate on June 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, & 27, 2010 due to a special event.

Wild West Train

All Aboard with a western twist. Join the Circle D Rangers as they protect the Metamora bound train every 3rd Saturday May through October (excluding June). New for 2009, the 3rd Sunday in October has now been added. Come and see Bandits, Marshals, Robber Barons,Fancy and some Not So Fancy Women as you roll through the scenic countryside. Trains depart Connersville at 12:01 PM. The round trip fares for this train are $20 for adult and $12 for children, one way fares are $15 for adults and $8 for children. Caboose seating is not available for this train.

Laurel Inn Train to Dinner

The Train to Dinner departs Connersville Station at 6 p.m. on the first and third Friday during the regular operating season, and travels to the Laurel Hotel. The cost is $29 per adult, $15 for children (special child's menu) and includes the round trip train ride, the meal, tax and tip. Reservations Required. Caboose Rentals

Bring the whole family, or a group of friends! Rent one of our cabooses for your private excursion to Metamora, and tag it on to the train. Limited Availability. $300 each. Make your reservation today! Also available on our Christmas Express for the rate of $400 per caboose. Maximum of 20 persons on most of our cabooses and not available on Wild West Trains, Civil War Train, Day Out With Thomas, Easter Bunny Express, Santa Express, or our Pumpkinliner. Cabooses are also available for Birthday Parties. Call the depot for more details.

Group Rates

Group fares are available for groups of 30 or more. Special School fares are also available. Reservations are required for all special fares. Call the depot for more information.

Charter Trains

Our train can be rented for special occasions. Past charters include Metamora Excursions, Train to Dinners, Wedding Specials, Photo Specials, Canal Tours, Rail Convention Specials, and Caboose Only Trains. Trips can depart both from the Connersville Station and Metamora. You can also choose either a one way or a round trip charter. Prices are based on the specific details of the trip. Call the depot for more information.

Rails to Romance - February 12 & 13, 2010

A Valentines themed special running of our Laurel Inn train to dinner excursion departing Connersville Grand Central station. Fares are $39 per person and includes the round trip train ride, the meal, tax and tip. A printable menu is available here. Limited seating is available and reservations are required. Easter Bunny Express - Saturday April 3, 2010

The 9th annual running of the Easter Bunny Express will depart from our Connersville Grand Central Station and make 4 round trips south to the Easter Bunny Patch 2 miles away. Don't forget your Basket. Come and meet the Easter Bunny and hunt for his Golden Egg. The egg hunt is open to ages 8 and under. Reservations are recommended. Prices are $9.00/person 2 and up. Train departs at 10am, 12pm, 2pm & 4pm. Train operates rain or shine.

Family Fun Days - National Train Day/Mothers Day Weekend - May 8 & 9, 2010

Enjoy a relaxing train ride though the scenic Whitewater Valley, on your way to the historic town of Metamora. Enjoy a two hour layover before your return trip to Connersville. Train departs Connersville at 12:01 PM. A Parent rides for half fare when accompanied by a child traveling at full fare. Please print this page and present when purchasing tickets.

May Special - 2010

This is a special running of our Connersville to Metamora train that departs on every Thursday and Friday in the month of May. The train departs Connersville at 10:00am. The price is the same as our Connersville to Metamora train service. NOTE: Special Rates for School Groups by advance reservations for these days.

Memorial Day Train - May 31, 2010

Civil War Train - July 4, 2010

Come along and take a trip back in time with us. Be in the middle of the action as an Union Army attachment protects the US Government Payroll. While along the line a relentless group of Confederate soldiers, simply known as Morgan's Raiders, plan and wait.

Wild West Train To Dinner with Steam - TBD

A Flagg Coal Company Locomotive will be making a special Wild West Themed Train to Dinner excursion from Historic Downtown Metamora to the Laurel Hotel Restaurant. Entertainment to be provided by the Circle D Rangers the train will depart at 6PM from Metamora. Fares are $65 per person and includes the round trip train ride, the meal, tax and tip. Ride The Rails With Steam And Abraham Lincoln - TBD

Come out and spend the day with the our 16th President Abraham Lincoln and Flagg Coal #75. Over 200 years ago on February 12, 1809, Abraham Lincoln was born near Hodgenville Kentucky. Lincoln spent from age seven to twenty-two in Southern Indiana before moving to Illinois and later becoming the 16th President of the United States.

Mr. Lincoln will be riding along with you as you travel along the scenic Whitewater Valley. Along the way, remnants of the Whitewater Canal locks, the restored Laurel Feeder Dam, and portions of the West Fork of the Whitewater River can clearly be seen. Ask the former president questions and have your photos taken to preserve the memories. Listen to one of the many speeches when the train arrives back in Metamora.

Festivities will start at 10:00 AM with four departures of a Flagg Coal Locomotive at 11:00 AM, 1:10 PM, 3:00 PM, and 5:00 PM. Fares for the scenic ten mile round trip excursion pulled by a Flagg Coal Company Locomotive are $16 per person and children ages 2-12 ride for half price. Trips run rain or shine.

Along the way, remnants of the Whitewater Canal locks, the restored Laurel Feeder Dam, and portions of the West Fork of the Whitewater River can be clearly seen. Fares for the scenic ten mile round trip excursion pulled by a Flagg Coal Company locomotive are $16 per person and children ages 2-12 ride for half price. Trips run rain or shine.

Enjoy Metamora Canal Days without worrying about parking. Our excursion leaves Connersville Grand Central Station at the times listed below. Caboose tickets & rentals are available for all trips. Tickets available for purchase at Connersville Grand Central Station.

All trains departing Metamora for the return trip to Connersville on October 2 & 3 will combine and depart as one train consist.

Metamora Haunted Village Ghost Train - NEW EVENT - October 16 & 17, 2009

In conjunction with the Metamora Haunted Village on Friday October 16 and Saturday October four departures of the inaugural GHOST TRAIN at 7:15 PM, 8:00 PM, 9:00 PM, and 10:00 PM. Departing from Historic Downtown Metamora, along the way, hear ghost stories and be visited by some railroad crews from times past. Fares for this ghostly event is $5 per person ages 2 and up. 30 minute trips operate rain or shine.

Visit the Metamora Haunted Village on October 16 & 17 between 7 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. Cost $5.00 per person. Take a Hayride through town but beware.... you never know what will happen!

Also visit the Haunted Halloween Cruse on October 17. Come spend a night in a safe but fun atmosphere. Enjoy a cruise down the Whitewater Canal in the dark! Professional storytellers Jeff Kuehl and Celestine Bloomfield will be telling spooky stories (appropriate for all age children). Treats will be passed out on the canal boat. Rides at 7:30 p.m. 8:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. No reservation required. Cost $4.00 per person.

Fall Foliage Trains - October 2010

Enjoy the beautiful fall foliage in the Whitewater River Valley between Connersville and Metamora on one of our Fall Foliage Trips. This special excursion runs every Thursday and Friday during October, departing Connersville station at 10:00 am, and allow a two hour stop over in Metamora for shopping. Tickets available at Connersville Grand Central Station.

Pumpkinliner - October 24, 2009

Bring the family out for a afternoon of fun. Enjoy a round trip from our Connersville Grand Central Station to our pumpkin patch. Your train ticket includes round trip service to the pumpkin patch, a hay ride to the patch, and a pumpkin from the field. Trains depart on Oct 24th 2009 at 10:00, 12:30, 2:30 and 4:30. Tickets are $9 for ages two and up and include a pumpkin for children age 12 and under. Tickets are Limited and Reservations are Recommended. Trains operate rain or shine. Tickets can not be exchanged or refunded.

THE POLAR EXPRESS rolls into Connersville's Grand Central Station this Holiday Season. The Polar Express will come to life when the train departs Connersville's Grand Central Station for a journey through the quiet countryside for a special visit to the "North Pole" with Santa Claus.

Santa Claus Express - Friday November 26, 2010

Board the train at Grand Central Station in Connersville to pick up Santa Claus along the way. Once on board Santa will come and visit with each child on the train. Train departs at 10am, 12pm and 2pm.
